Private Training Classes
This option is only available if you are training with a dog you already own!
Private training sessions allow us to focus our time and energy to better help you with any difficult training areas that we might come across. Through these weekly sessions, we will help both handler and dog to learn new skills and build on those learned in previous classes. Students gain independence with their dog trained to help them with their disability. Each student is guided by us under State and Federal Law allowing teams to train in areas they would not have access to without our program. We also help students to navigate taking their trained dog to work, school, and even in housing disputes. We know first hand how hard it can be to have a disability and new public access challenges with your dog, and we aim to make that process easier to work through and accomplish your goals.
What this program offers:
- 10 months of weekly one on one lessons with one of our trainers.
- We will teach you skills including basics, task work, and public access testing.
- Each class is approximately 45 minutes in length and are held in Reynoldsburg.
- Optional - Payments can be made on a monthly basis instead of all at once.
Does your dog have what it takes?
- Upon evaluating you and your dog for our program, we will be looking for certain behavior traits your dog needs to have or not have to be successful in our program.
- What we look for: a confident dog that is not startled by loud noises, the dog should not be scared to approach new people or dogs, take treats and food quickly, and respond to interactions you dog may have during the evaluation.
- What we do NOT want to see: growling, lunging (not excitable), bearing teeth, constant warning barking, stressed body language (heavy panting, ears pullled back, shaking, or submissive/excitable urination.
Cost: $6,000 or 10 monthly payments of $600 each month.
- Funding options that may be available to help with costs include: Ohio Rise, Medicaid and Medicare Waivers, Private Grants, and fundraisers.
